If by "summer" tires you mean high performance tires, then the slightest bit of snow and ice can make you loose control. I know, I've tried it. With less than one inch of snow on the ground, my Z would not sit still on a road that was only sloped MAYBE 2-3 degrees, I slid off into a ditch. From a dead standstill. Also, just to prove this point to my friend , one time I got out of my car with snow on the driveway, put a golfball under one front tire. My car could not get over the golf ball. I then put the car in first, and got out of the car with engine running. I could move the car sideways back and forth with one hand, rear tires spinning, stuck on a golf ball. Don't try it, you'll be sorry.
